Mobile App Development

A phone app when the task itself happens away from a desk, and a responsive site is not enough.

What this work is

We build mobile applications for customers or for teams in the field. The decision to use a native-feeling app, rather than a website, comes from the task: poor connectivity, a camera, repeated daily use, or a workflow that has to stay in a pocket.

Problems this usually addresses

The job does not happen at a desk

Staff or customers need to finish a task standing up, between other work, on a phone they already carry.

A shrunk website is awkward to use

Layouts that reflow are not the same as a flow designed for a thumb and a short session.

The first store release is treated as the end

An app that cannot be updated, observed, and fixed becomes a liability after launch.

Typical capabilities

  • iOS and Android applications from a shared React Native and Expo codebase when that fits
  • Account flows and permissions for customers or staff
  • Interfaces designed for short, repeated tasks
  • A release approach that leaves the app maintainable after version one

Engineering approach

We do not start from an app-store listing. We start from the task someone is trying to finish, then decide whether a mobile app is the right surface. This page does not claim a current public store listing. A mobile engagement is scoped when the product needs one.

Technologies used for this kind of work

How an engagement runs

Design is checked on a phone early. Engineering includes the path to a release, not only a demo on a simulator.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn the operation, the users, and the constraints before proposing software.

  2. 02

    Plan

Scope, architecture, and a sequence of work that can be reviewed while it is being built.

  3. 03

    Design

Flows and interface structure, resolved far enough that engineering is not guessing.

  4. 04

    Engineer

Production-minded increments, with direct conversation from the people writing the code.

  5. 05

    Test

Behaviour, integrations, and the paths people actually take, checked before release.

  6. 06

    Launch & Evolve

Release, then stay with the product so it remains maintainable as the business changes.

Questions we are often asked

Do you publish an app for both iOS and Android?

When one product needs both, React Native and Expo are the usual path. Separate native codebases are only justified when the product demands them.

Is Restrowise a mobile app?

Restrowise is shown here as a web product for restaurant operations. A phone screenshot is not used to imply a mobile app.

Can you take over an existing app?

Yes, after looking at the codebase, the release setup, and what the next version actually needs to do.
